Physical:

havana brown kitten characteristics

Havana Browns are medium-sized, muscular cats with a graceful and slender build. Their most distinctive feature is the deep, warm mahogany-brown coat that should be even in color without shading or markings. They have a slightly rounded head, large oval-shaped green eyes, a straight nose, and moderately large ears set well apart. A true Havana Brown’s tail is long and tapered, complementing their elegant body proportions.

Personality:

Havana Browns are playful, curious, and highly social. They enjoy interactive games, mental stimulation, and spending time with their owners. Havana Browns are gentle but energetic, and they often follow their favorite people around the house. They can be vocal but typically in a soft, pleasant tone, and they adapt well to both calm and active households.

Health & Care:

The Havana Brown’s short, fine coat is soft and smooth to the touch. Minimal grooming is needed; weekly brushing is usually sufficient to remove loose hairs and maintain the coat’s shine. Despite its short length, the coat should always appear sleek and glossy.

Hygiene

Full baths are rarely needed and only when the cat is visibly dirty, using a mild, cat-safe shampoo.

Nails should be trimmed every 2–3 weeks with a proper cat nail clipper; if unsure, a veterinarian or professional groomer can assist.

Teeth should be brushed 2–3 times per week using a cat toothbrush and pet-safe toothpaste—ask a vet to demonstrate proper technique if you’ve never done this before.

Ears should be checked weekly and cleaned gently with a cotton pad or a vet-recommended solution as needed.

Common Health Issues

Havana Browns are generally healthy, with no breed-specific ailments. Regular veterinary check-ups and a balanced diet help maintain their health.
