DIY Dog Treat Recipes Your Dog Will Love

1. No-Bake Peanut Butter & Oat Bites



Ingredients:


  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • ½ cup unsweetened peanut butter (no xylitol)

  • ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce


Instructions:


  1. In a bowl, mix all ingredients until combined.

  2. Roll into small bite-sized balls.

  3. Store in the fridge for up to 1 week.


Tip: Keep them fresh in an airtight treat jar so your pup can enjoy them for days.


2. Pumpkin Crunch Biscuits


Ingredients:


  • 2½ cups whole wheat flour

  • 1 cup pumpkin purée (unsweetened)

  • 1 egg


Instructions:


  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).

  2. Mix all ingredients into a dough.

  3. Roll out and cut with a cookie cutter.

  4. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until hard.


Tip: Use silicone baking mats for an easy, non-stick bake.


3. Frozen Banana Yogurt Pops


Ingredients:


  • 2 ripe bananas

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (unsweetened)


Instructions:


  1. Blend bananas and yogurt until smooth.

  2. Pour into silicone molds or ice cube trays.

  3. Freeze for at least 3 hours before serving.


Tip: Great for hot days or after a long walk — serve on your licking mat for extra fun.


4. Sweet Potato Chews (Great for teeth & digestion)


Ingredients:


  • 2 large sweet potatoes


Instructions:


  1. Preheat oven to 120°C (250°F).

  2. Slice sweet potatoes into thin strips (about 0.5 cm thick).

  3. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. Bake for 2–3 hours, flipping halfway, until chewy.


Tip: Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.


5. Cheesy Biscuit Bones (High-value training treats)


Ingredients:


  • 1½ cups whole wheat flour

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 egg

  • ½ cup water


Instructions:


  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).

  2. Mix all ingredients into a dough.

  3. Roll out and cut into small bone shapes.

  4. Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden.


Tip: Keep them in a treat pouch for training walks.


6. Apple & Carrot Pupcakes (Perfect for birthdays)


Ingredients:


  • 1 cup grated carrots

  • 1 cup grated apple (no seeds)

  • 2 eggs

  • 1½ cups whole wheat flour

  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce


Instructions:


  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).

  2. Mix all ingredients in a bowl.

  3. Spoon into muffin tins lined with silicone cupcake liners.

  4. Bake for 20–25 minutes.

  5. Cool before serving.


Optional frosting: Mash banana with a little plain yogurt.
